In December we were contacted by Ms. Gabby Nakkab, an exceptional 8th grade student from New York. This year marks the third year she has participated in the National History Fair. Also unique to this year; she chose to research the Tuskegee Airmen. The theme this year is “Taking a Stand in History”, words from Gabby:
“The Tuskegee Airmen were the first African Americans to complete their training successfully and enter the Army Air Forces. They fought to be treated equal, and did not allow the thoughts of those around them stop them from achieving greatness. After hearing that one of the surviving Tuskegee Airmen recently passed away just a couple minutes away from my home, I knew choosing this topic will allow me to carry on the legacy that the Tuskegee Airmen left and teach others about their significance not only to the Air Force, but to the entire world.”
Gabby advanced to the State level and competed in April after placing 1st at both in her school and region. We are tremendously proud of this young lady and look forward to her continued success in educational endeavors. Check out this project! The diligence and level of detail invested in this exhibit is beyond impressive.
